Course Summary

This degree is targeted at people who have experience of working in the sector and have ambitions to undertake roles that will influence change for individuals and communities in an ever-changing social care and health world. The social care and health sector is ever-changing and requires people who are knowledgeable, skilled, competent and flexible. This programme will prepare you for this exciting career and will cover some of the key areas that you will experience when you study with us. The course comprises 11 modules which are delivered over 2 years (including summer) using a variety of teaching, learning approaches and assessments. The course is aimed at people who are currently working in social care and health and would like to progress on to different positions or to set up their own social care and health service. Each of the modules will prepare you to make a positive impact on community-based services in a variety of statutory, voluntary and independent organisations by examining the trends and critical issues in the social care and health sector. Level 4 The four modules at level 4 – Service provision; Academic and Professional Skills; Collaborative working and Global perspective. These modules will enable you to understand the current context of the services and ways of working in the UK and abroad, as well as what is expected from you whilst studying at university and in employment. Level 5 At level 5, the four modules – Sustainable Services, Leadership and Management Theory and Practice; and Bidding and Fundraising. These modules will require you to understand how your way of working will impact self and others, as well as gaining experience of exploring ‘real life’ situations. Level 6 Level 6 modules there are three modules, which focus on research methods and project as well as business skills and entrepreneurship. These modules offer you the opportunity to research areas of interest, be innovative and prepare for your future career.
