The foundation year offers an innovative new pathway into your degree. It is the first part of a four-year degree programme. It provides an alternative route for those unable to meet the traditional entry requirements for a three-year degree. It will prepare you for your degree studies in a supportive and stimulating learning environment. You will begin with an exploration of education and society, before moving onto consider including identity, being human and the digital world. Over the course of the year, you will build the skills and experience to prepare you for your chosen degree. Psychology with Criminology combines a comprehensive training in Psychology with the study of criminal behaviour, types of crime, and knowledge of the criminal justice system. On this programme you will cover all the core areas of Psychology stipulated by the BPS curriculum. Covering Biopsychology, Cognitive Psychology, Developmental Psychology, Individual Differences, Social Psychology, and Research Methods. This accounts for approximately two-thirds of the programme. The Psychology modules are studied alongside carefully curated criminology modules which link psychological theory to the criminal justice environment and offender behaviours, which make up the remaining (approx.) third of the curriculum.
