Teacher Training
Newman University has an excellent reputation for training and educating inspirational teachers who make a positive difference to the lives of the children they teach, who are able to bring subjects to life through creative and innovative teaching that encourages a love of learning in their pupils.
You will gain a variety of skills and knowledge including child development, education theory and classroom management which will enable you to put into context what you observe in the classroom and have a range of strategies to aim for outstanding teaching practice.
Students have the opportunity to choose an enhancement subject. Safeguarding is also an important aspect in the teacher’s role and this is an area in which you will be thoroughly trained and prepared. We have strong partnerships with local schools, which are particularly beneficial to our students for their placements and for future employment.
You will be taught in groups which allow for a high level of support; in order to enhance your confidence and development as a teacher.
We offer further enrichment opportunities, such as optional field trips to work with children in The Gambia and Hong Kong.
