Psychology is the scientific study of people, the mind and behaviour. On this BPS-accredited degree you will study the foundations of this fascinating subject. Topics include developmental and social psychology, personality and abnormal psychology and evolution and genetics for psychologists. Your teaching is informed by our internationally recognised research in areas such as visual and cognitive neuroscience, clinical psychology and disorders of development. This degree is also available as a four-year programme with an integrated professional placement.

Standard Qualification Requirements

AAA-AAB, excluding General Studies. One science A Level is required, two are preferred. We include Psychology, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Statistics, and Mathematics as science A Levels. For Biology, Chemistry and Physics A levels, we require a pass in the practical element. GCSE Mathematics plus a science (both at a minimum grade B or 6) required.

AAAAA-AAABB at Higher Grade. One science Higher is required, two are preferred. We include Psychology, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Statistics, and Mathematics as science subjects. Combinations of Highers and Advanced Highers accepted. Mathematics plus a science required at National 5, minimum grade B (or grade 2 Standard Grade or Intermediate 2 equivalent). Where a candidate bypasses the assessment for National 5 qualifications and only either Mathematics OR one science are included in the 5 Highers making up the standard requirement then an additional 6th Higher will be required in the missing subject at grade C. Scottish qualifications can be taken in more than one sitting.

45 level 3 credits at Distinction including 15 credits each in mathematics and/or quantitative methods, human biology and a third subject, preferably a science subject.

We welcome applications from students offering an Extended Project and value the skills of research and independent learning that it is designed to develop. If you offer an Extended Project, it will be taken into account as part of your application profile, but we will not usually include it in offer conditions for this degree programme.

A minimum of 35 points, with three subjects at Higher Level grade 6 or above. At least two sciences at Higher Level are preferred. Mathematics or Mathematical Studies to be offered at Standard Level grade 5 if not offered at Higher Level. At least one third of all subjects taken must be science/mathematics.

Pearson BTEC Level 3 National Extended Diploma/OCR Cambridge Technical Level 3 Extended Diploma. A science-related subject with substantial biology and mathematics units. Applicants are considered on an individual basis.

H1H1H1H2H3 at Higher Level, including at least one subject with a substantial science or mathematics component including Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics and Applied Mathematics. At least two sciences are preferred.

D3,D3,D3-D3,D3,M2 in Principal Subjects. One science subject is required, two are preferred. We include Mathematics, Biology, Physics, Psychology and Chemistry as science subjects. GCSE Mathematics plus a science (both at a minimum grade B or 6) are required.
