This degree has a primary focus on the production and consumption of food products and on the behaviour of people as consumers. It covers a range of social and natural science and business subjects applied to food businesses. You will study the principles of management, economics, marketing and finance, as they apply to the management of sustainable food businesses and the global food sector. Graduates will be well placed for a wide range of careers in the global food supply chain management sector, with a well grounded understanding of the complexity of the global food chain system.

Standard Qualification Requirements

excluding General Studies and Critical Thinking. GCSE Mathematics (minimum grade B or 6) required if not taken at A or AS level.

Mathematics required at National 5, minimum grade B (or grade 2 Standard Grade or Intermediate 2 equivalent) if not offered at Higher Grade. Where a candidate bypasses the assessment for National 5 qualifications, a minimum of grade C in Higher Mathematics is required.

Level 3 units in Business, Marketing or Economics are desirable.

We welcome applications from students offering an Extended Project and value the skills of research and independent learning that is it designed to develop. If you offer an Extended Project, it will be taken into account as part of your application profile, but we will not usually include it in offer conditions for this degree programme.

Mathematics or Mathematical Studies is required at Standard Level grade 5 if not offered at Higher Level.

Business-related subject or subject where there is coverage of food/nutrition. GCSE Mathematics (minimum grade B or 6) required. Applicants should outline in their personal statement exactly which modules they have taken as part of the Extended Diploma.
