Course Summary

The course aims to provide a comprehensive study of photography to meet the creative and commercial needs of an image-based world. There is an emphasis on the skills valued by employers in the creative sector, making ‘live’ client-based assignments integral to the course. Study will focus on many aspects of photography including: Documentary; Reportage; Fine Art; Studio and Commercial Photography, using both digital and darkroom-based techniques. You will make use of our industry standard software and modern studios to ensure that you refine your skill set to meet employability requirements. Offering a number of creative arts courses at degree level enables us to offer collaborative tasks to simulate real life work practices – we often run tasks where you will be part of a wider photography, graphic design and fashion team to enable you to hone your team working and employability skills. We also have guest speakers contribute throughout the course to ensure your creative thinking processes are explored to their maximum and you consider all options available to you when working on assessments and projects. You will benefit from individualised and focused feedback on your work on a regular basis throughout the course. The course also includes a subsidised trip* to a European City which is linked to an assessed assignment. Previous locations have included Paris, Madrid, Barcelona, Berlin and Edinburgh. *subject to availability
