Then this is the course for you! We will prepare you for an interesting and exciting career within an ever updating and growing industry. This programme links directly with the Software Developer Higher Technical Qualification and the demands of local industry. This course is designed for Higher Education applicants wishing to gain Software Design and Development skills. On completion of this course you will be ready to enter employment within the Computing industry, or progress to a BSc (Hons) Top-Up course. There is a significant demand for people who can design, develop and implement software applications, design and develop database applications. This course has been developed in consultation with key industry contacts throughout the region so you’ll get relevant, career-focussed training in a range of computing areas. This is a two-year full-time course which will prepare you for the challenges and developments in the computing industry, or to continue your studies to a BSc (Hons) Top-Up. Academic progression is available through a one-year BSc (Hons) Top-Up degrees. Upon completion of this course it may also be possible to secure employment within the Computing industry. This course will help you develop a variety of Computing skills that allow you to pursue a career in website development, IT consultancy, software development, or other industry related roles.

Year One: Academic Study Skills, Personal Development, Work Related Learning, Information Systems and Databases, Dynamic Website Development, Programme Fundamentals, Object-Orientated Programming. Year Two: Professional Development, Work Based Learning, Secure Website Development, System Design and Testing, Web Apps and Cloud Services, DevOps.

Teaching and learning methods are widely varied including lectures, seminars, demonstrations and self-directed study. Assessment is carried out through written assignments, practical work, case studies, presentations and projects.
