Course Summary

The course has been designed in collaboration with local industry to help you to develop your leadership and management skills within the engineering industry. The North East of England is well-known as one of the most diverse engineering areas in the country with companies operating in industries such as automotive, aerospace, oil and gas, marine, renewables, defence, utilities, medical and fabrication/assembly. Given the diverse range of engineering industries and products, effective project management requires an engineering background combined with the flexibility to cope with products involving multi-disciplined skills. The modules you will study as part of this course will expand your knowledge and understanding of engineering management and why successful execution of projects with strong leadership and management skills are vital in the engineering industry. This course will give you the necessary skills to apply for engineering posts within production planning, supervision, project management, product development and quality assurance. Opportunities for employment exist in a wide range of industries such as manufacturing, defence, aerospace, pharmaceutical, process and offshore engineering industries. There is the possibility to progress on an appropriate Masters qualification or to study for a PGCE if you would like to progress into a teaching career in engineering.
