Our full-time BTEC Higher National Diploma in Performing Arts is taking the dynamic and groundbreaking work of Forge Theatre: Nescot Performing Arts to a higher level. Based at Nescot College this two-year specialist vocational programme provides you with a diverse range of skills and techniques to prepare you for life and your career.
The NEXUS Ensemble theatre company combines training in contemporary, physical and classical theatre. It is made up of three companies: Forge Theatre, Nexus Ensemble and (e) Merge. The companies perform with the ethos of creating work which is physically daring, emotionally engaging and visually stunning.
The BTEC HND in Performing Arts course is a practical and vocational training program designed to reflect the contemporary arts industry. The course aims to enable you to develop the most relevant skills and a flexible toolkit that will equip you for a career in the arts. You will complete a wide range of units including: Devising Performance, Acting for Camera, Singing, Movement and Acting for Stage. The main focus of the course is to create well rounded actors who are able to work under a variety of styles, genres and circumstances. Therefore, students will focus on basic stage craft, in-depth text analysis and acting technique.
You’ll also undertake a number of industry-related projects including full scale performances of a classic text and a contemporary play. The course also includes two fully-funded trips overseas that link and support projects embedded on the program.
Students on NESCOT higher education course are typically taught in class sizes of 16 or fewer. Details of the course timetable will be available at the course induction.
