Course Summary

The one year HNC programme in Art Practice will allow you to explore your arts practice with an emphasis on developing a personal visual language in paint, drawing, sculpture or interdisciplinary approach to making art. In addition you will develop methodologies for idea generation within an art context. The course will also introduce you to the philosophy and sociology of art. Art theory and contextual studies are delivered alongside your practical work. On successful completion of the course, you will be able progress onto a Higher National Diploma in Art and Design (Arts Practice) . Ideally students will hold a level 3 qualification in Art or a relevant subject and maths and English GCSE (full qualification) minimum Grade 4 or grade C. We also accept those with extensive knowledge and experience in the sector. If your first language is not English, learners should have a minimum of 6.0 IELTS. WE expect applicants to provide a portfolio of their work. Applicants should have good study and research skills.

Additional Fee Information

Provision of basic art & design equipment such as: paint brushes, clay, plaster, wood, canvas, and any additional consumable materials demanded by personal project requirements. Resource fee of £150 to cover acrylic paint, oil paint, mediums, and printing/ink costs. Train fares for visits by train to London (normally up to two a year). A digital camera is advantageous but not essential. Fees subject to change.
