Course Summary

Led by passionate conservation biologists, our Ecology and Wildlife Conservation courses have sustainability at their core. This course investigates a range of UK habitats and the biodiversity that they support. Students cover a diverse range of current topics and get the skills necessary to make and implement important conservation decisions. The college has its own 450Ha farm so the outdoor classroom is never far away. The first year is common across the programmes and will lay the groundwork needed to study ecology from individuals to ecosystems. There is a grounding in Conservation Biology and Animal Behaviour as well as time to learn those all-important HE Study Skills needed to succeed at this level. In the second year you will get a good grounding in Research Methods for biosciences, build upon your knowledge of Conservation Biology and Field Ecology as well as learning about Avian Ecology and Conservation. You will also get the opportunity to gain industry experience by completing a placement module and gain valuable research experience by completing your own project. You will be taught in our purpose built HE centre with its small group classrooms and you will be assessed using a diverse range of modern methods which have their roots in the workplace.
