Strength and conditioning coaches strive to improve the fitness of their clients, individuals and/or teams of athletes. However, unlike personal trainers and other fitness professionals, strength and conditioning coaches focus upon improving skill, technique and athletic performance. This programme helps to expand your knowledge, skills and abilities in the field of strength and conditioning. The programme is also mapped to the UKSCA ASCC guidelines and assessment methods, with the intention of supporting you to in your application for UKSCA ASCC status, the gold standard of the industry.

Standard Qualification Requirements


Successful enhanced DBS, which will be funded by the Institution. The student will be responsible for joining the update register if they choose. The most popular (and directly relevant) entry qualifications are the Fd in Strength & Conditioning. However, other a range of Level 5 qualifications would be considered. Where applicants apply with qualifications that are not directly relevant, but meet the UCAS points requirement, the Programme Team looks for evidence of experience with sport, gym instruction and fitness. Applications from students with non-standard entry qualifications are welcome. Admission tutors also take into account any alternative qualifications or other experience applicants may offer. Successful candidates require qualifications in English Language and Mathematics to at least GCSE grade C level or have demonstrated adequate skills and competencies in an interview (for example, functional skills assessment).
