Course Summary

This course is identical to the Mechanical Engineering MEng, but includes an additional year spent working in industry. Many students find it highly beneficial, both to their university education and to their subsequent employability, to integrate a substantial period in industry within your degree. We offer you the chance to do this with a structured placement year in industry, which would normally be completed after the third year of the Mechanical Engineering degree course (with students returning after their placement to complete the 4 thyear of study). However, you may opt to organise your placement after the second year. During the placement year students are supervised by the host company and progress is monitored by the university.

Although the Extended Project will not be included in the conditions of your offer, we strongly encourage you to provide information about the EPQ in your personal statement and at interview. A number of our academic Schools may also choose to take your performance in the EPQ into account should places be available in August for applicants who narrowly miss the entry grades for their chosen course.
