Our BSc (Hons) Pharmaceutical Chemistry degree not only offers a firm grounding in general chemistry, research methods and laboratory techniques, but also provides the specialist skills and understanding you’ll need to pursue a future in pharmaceutical chemistry. We’ve developed the course with the pharmaceutical industry in mind – ensuring that our curriculum covers all the skills and strengths that employers demand, and that our placements offer the practical experience on which you can build a career. You’ll focus on areas like drug testing, drug efficacy, computer-based drug design and the quality control of pharmaceuticals – equipping you for a role in the drug discovery industry. **FEATURES AND BENEFITS:** - We have invested £1.8m in upgrading our synthetic chemistry laboratories and installing new analytical equipment. - Our teaching is supported by a range of technological innovations including videos, specialist software and simulations to help you to prepare for practicals in advance – building your confidence in using lab equipment and allowing you to practise virtually from home. - You will gain experience in advanced synthetic chemistry skills and hands-on operation of high specification analytical instrumentation to provide you with the skills employers are looking for. - In your first year you will have access to our online homework system, which allows your lecturers to give you immediate, targeted feedback and hints to help you understand and practise key concepts. - You can opt for a four-year route, with the third year of your degree spent on an industry placement. This is subject to national and international travel restrictions. - Our diverse research activities directly inform our teaching. These focus on creating a sustainable and healthy future, including biosensors, drug discovery and the chemical monitoring of environmental change.
