Course Summary

**OVERVIEW** There are few aspects of business more fundamental than people: they’re a vital ingredient of any organisation. It’s down to the Human Resource (HR) professionals to deal with a vast range of business-critical issues, shaping workplace policies like redundancy, maternity leave and rewards, and supporting strategic decisions on areas like recruitment. The best HR professionals have an in-depth understanding of how organisations operate and what the business objectives are – helping them advise employees and partner with the business. We’ll help you explore the latest thinking in the subject, starting with first principles of managing people, analysing information and understanding behaviour. From there, you’ll expand into topics like managing across cultures and leading change. And, in your final year, you’ll also be able to pick your own subject as a research topic. By the time you graduate, you won’t just have extensive knowledge of the role, you’ll also have a deeper understanding of the business and legislative landscape. In other words, you’ll leave ready to start your career in the world of HR. **Choose a placement or study abroad** The course offers real flexibility as you will enrol on the three-year course and then decide if a placement or overseas study is right for you once you have started your studies. You don’t have to decide now. If you opt to undertake a placement or study abroad your course will normally be four years full-time. **FEATURES AND BENEFITS** - **Triple accredited** - our business school holds the globally recognised trio of accreditations from EQUIS, AACSB and AMBA, placing us among the best business schools in the world. - **Accredited degree** - our programme is accredited by the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD) - **Mentorship** - in your third year, you’ll get the opportunity to be mentored by a professional working in human resource management. - **Enhance your employability** - through activities including internships, volunteering or learning a new language. Our award-winning ‘Rise at Manchester Met’ programme encourages you to learn career-ready skills beyond the focus of your course and potentially gain extra academic credits towards your degree. - **Supporting you in person and online** - student support initiatives including drop-in sessions, lecture recordings and dedicated support, both on and offline.
