Our Financial Mathematics BSc (Hons) degree is co-taught by the School of Business and Economics - one of the UK's Top 10 business schools. Active in high-quality research across the broad spectrum of mathematics, the Department of Mathematical Sciences at Loughborough enjoys an international reputation and has attracted staff and students from all over the world, making it a diverse and stimulating environment in which to study. The Department of Mathematical Sciences is a member of the London Mathematical Society Good Practice Scheme. The department actively strives to promote equality of opportunity for all students and staff. The Department is located in the Schofield Building, which is based centrally on the University campus. The building has recently undergone a £4.3 million refurbishment to equip it with dedicated resources for mathematics students. As a mathematics student you will benefit from 24/7 access to state-of-the-art computer labs in the Schofield Building and also from our co-location with the Mathematics Learning Support Centre. Our Financial Mathematics degree carries the option of a year-long industry placement or studying abroad with one of our partner universities, enabling you to broaden your horizons and gain valuable skills and experience.

Course Details – Assessment Method

A variety of assessment methods are used on this course. Depending on the nature of the material, some modules are assessed by a mixture of coursework and examination (for example 25% coursework and 75% examination), whilst other modules are assessed 100% by coursework or 100% by examination. Coursework is based on a variety of tasks including individual essays, projects, laboratory work, contribution in tutorials, group work and presentations.

Applicants taking the Welsh Baccalaureate Advanced Diploma will be asked to achieve the A level requirements for their course as part of their qualification.
