Course Summary

The HNC is a part time programme which is delivered over two years, either on a day release or evening basis. To achieve a HNC, a total of eight units must be successfully completed. This course have been developed in collaboration with our external partners to ensure that your education is relevant and up to date. Emphasizing the importance of work-based experience, you will have the opportunity to apply your knowledge to existing companies and gain valuable skills that will inform your future practice. You will be expected to complete a level of self-directed study throughout the duration of this course, and we require you to commit a dedicated amount of time to your learning both in and of college. Your practical skills will be further developed by completing a wide range of practical activities and experiments undertaken during your studies. You will be able to progress the ability to apply analysis and synthesis skills to the solution of electrical and electronics engineering problems. Our laboratories are of an excellent standard and include the highest specification jet engines, soldering irons, test equipment such as multi meters, power supplies, digital storage oscilloscopes, function generators, spectrum analyser, to build and test circuits. Course Details – Assessment Method

The programme uses a variety of assessment techniques to ensure that you can demonstrate the range of learning outcomes. Subject knowledge and understanding is assessed through examinations, coursework essays, coursework reports, individual or group presentations, written evaluations, debates and posters will be used as other forms of assessment. These also assess a range of transferable skills, including confidence in academic written communication.
