Course Summary

This course is designed to bring higher education and the care services together to ensure that the needs of employees and employers are addressed. These qualifications are work-related, user-centred and combine technical skills, workplace skills academic knowledge and employability. The advantage of such a qualification is that it has been developed collaboratively with employers, professionals and institutions. It is vocationally relevant and designed to meet the needs of a diverse workforce. It is a full-time course offered in partnership with the University of Greenwich.

Course Details - Modules

Year 1 – Core courses: Academic and Personal Development; Managing business resources in care settings; Work based learning - 1; Introduction to Care Policy; - Plus a choice of 2 optional courses: Language & child; Creativity & child; Community care in practice; Social context of intellectual impairments; Concepts of social & emotional developments. (Unseen exam)- (15 or 30 credits). Year 2 – Core courses: Contemporary issues in care (Care) or Law and the child (Early Years); Introduction to the research process; Ethics of care; Work based learning - 2; Managing day care & residential settings; - Plus a choice of 2 optional courses: Children in society; Health promotion in Early Years; Self & Disability; Introduction to dementia care; Mental health and Intellectual disabilities. (15 or 30 credits)
