Through established industry links, well-equipped design studios and access to facilities for animation, book production, digital publishing, photography, printmaking and video, this illustration course will allow you develop your own illustrative style and be prepared for a number of different roles in the industry.
Across the three-year programme, you’ll refine your craft. Not only will you harness and develop new skills, you’ll learn how to articulate your ideas in your work, in a collaborative setting and to prospective employers. With a strong focus on visual narrative and documentary, you’ll learn through studio-based projects, workshops, regular tutorials as well as group reviews.
Unlike other illustration courses in London, LCCA is committed to providing programmes that give students not just theoretical knowledge but practical experience. As such, you’ll be involved with shows and live projects as well as external competitions, all of which will add value to your portfolio of work. Additionally, you’ll experience a programme of workshops, pop-up exhibitions, visiting speakers and external visits.
Year 1:
Year one of the BA Illustration is dedicated to helping you develop an open-minded and flexible approach to illustration while ensuring you start to find your own artistic voice.
Year 2:
Through a series of external projects, students will also gain a better understanding of the working environment, allowing you to gain professional skills.
Year 3:
Year 3 is designed to prepare you for the professional world by helping you to develop a portfolio of your work. Now that you’ve refined your skills and developed a unique artistic voice, you’ll be able to enter competitions and shows, produce promotional work and develop an online presence.
