Course Summary

Our programme draws on our research excellence and our focus on transferable skills means a psychology degree from Liverpool will be suitable for a wide range of career choices. The degree is accredited by the British Psychological Society and provides Graduate Basis for Chartered Membership, making it an excellent platform for postgraduate study. We have a 3 stage curriculum: Year 1 is based on the BPS core subject areas, Year 2 is based on the research themes of Psychology at Liverpool and in Year 3 you will have the option to choose modules from our research specialisms. This will enable you to develop specialist knowledge in a range of subject areas (eg clinical, forensic etc). Entry to the undergraduate degree programme is available to applicants with a wide array of qualifications and backgrounds. Outstanding applicants may be offered conditional places on linked postgraduate courses provided by the University of Liverpool allowing our graduates to further enhance their career prospects. This programme is accredited against the requirements for the Graduate Basis for Chartered Membership (GBC) of the British Psychological Society (BPS). This programme is available with a Year in China. The Year in China allows undergraduate students the opportunity to spend one year at our joint venture, Xi'an Jiaotong-Liverpool University (XJTLU), following XJTLU's BA China Studies degree classes. XJTLU is a fully English-speaking university, located in Suzhou. If you wish to study this programme with a Year in China please put the option code YC in the Further Choices section of your UCAS application form.

Standard Qualification Requirements

One science A level required, two science A levels are preferred and may lead to a lower offer. The required Science A level must be one of the following: Psychology, Biology, Human Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Economics, Statistics, Further Maths, Mathematics, Geology, Geography, Environmental Science, Computer Science, ICT or Applied Science

45 credits at Distinction from graded level 3 units in a relevant Diploma

One science required, two sciences are preferred and may lead to a lower offer. The required Science must be one of the following: Psychology, Biology, Human Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Economics, Statistics, Further Maths, Mathematics, Geology, Geography, Environmental Science, Computer Science or Applied Science

Applicants who offer the Extended Project Qualification (EPQ) and meet our offer criteria will be made the standard offer, plus an alternative offer. This will be at one A Level grade lower plus a grade A in the EPQ, for example the offer would be ABB or BBB plus A in the EPQ. including one Science subject.

Including grade 6 in a Higher Level Science subject.

If this is your first degree and you are a Home student applying for entry in 2021, you do not have to pay your fees upfront. Instead, you can take out a tuition fee loan which is paid straight to the University. This is available to most students, no matter what their household income. For students applying for 2021 entry Tuition fees for 2021 entry are £9,250. Exceptions to the £9,250 fee: Some of our programmes charge less than the full £9,250 fee: •Foundation programmes: the fee for the foundation year of specified programmes at Carmel College and Birkenhead Sixth Form College is £5,140. •Programmes with a year in industry or a year abroad: the fee for students spending a full year working in industry is £1,850.
