Course Summary

This programme includes a Year Abroad. The Year Abroad will allow you to study at one of our partner universities around the world, following a mixture of culture and discipline-related modules. Graduates of this degree programme go on to a wide range of careers: you may be responsible for planning the electricity distribution network, or you may be designing the electronics of the next ‘must have’ item. However, you are also not limited to a career in engineering, with many employers actively seeking engineers for their mixture of numerical ability and practical problem solving skills. One day per week is timetabled for practical work in our well-equipped modern laboratories during the first two years. In the final year you will choose from a wide range of projects that is either linked to research work or has some industrial relevance.

Standard Qualification Requirements

To include Mathematics and a science subject (Chemistry, Computer Science, Further Maths, Physics or Electronics). For applicants from England: For science A Levels that include the separately graded practical endorsement, a Pass is required.

Combinations of Highers and Advanced Highers considered, including Advanced Highers in Mathematics and a Science subject (Chemistry, Computer Science, Further Maths, Physics or Electronics).

Considered if taking a relevant subject. (standard offer: 42 Level 3 credits at Distinction, including 15 Level 3 credits in Mathematics is required. GCSE English and Mathematics grade C also required.) Maths test also required.

If this is your first degree and you are a Home student applying for entry in 2021, you do not have to pay your fees upfront. Instead, you can take out a tuition fee loan which is paid straight to the University. This is available to most students, no matter what their household income. For students applying for 2021 entry Tuition fees for 2021 entry are £9,250.
