Liverpool Centre for Advanced Policing, is a pioneering research centre for interdisciplinary law enforcement, and is licensed by the College of Policing to deliver degree programmes included in the Police Education Qualification Framework. - This is a two year accelerated degree in Professional Policing., which has been licensed by the College of Policing, the professional Statutory and Regulatory Body (PSRB) for policing. - There are now three entry routes into policing - this degree in Professional Policing is the requisite qualification for one of those routes. - The programme covers a wide-ranging areas of law, social science, policy and research skills essential to a policing career. - You will be taught in the Liverpool Centre for Advanced Policing Studies by lecturers with academic and professional backgrounds in policing. - The programme will start in September with semesters in the Autumn, Spring and Summer.

Course Details – Assessment Method

Academic assessment will be undertaken in accordance with University standards. Generally, this will be by way of written assignments, presentations and exams, both seen and unseen. The range or diversity of assessments are designed to cater for all student needs and allow students to develop and demonstrate a variety of skills much in demand by the police service. There is also a requirement for students to undertake self-reflection. Some assessment are based on reports of this reflective process. The assessment process will be supported by university staff and there is a recognition that some students will need additional support in line with any particular learning needs.

There is a requirement for all applicants to be interviewed by academic staff prior to being offered a place on the programme. Staff will also provide appropriate course advice, information and guidance during this process. This will include comprehensive detail of the programme and advice and guidance to ensure it meets student needs. Applicants who do not meet the standard academic entry requirements may be considered for admission onto the programme. In such cases, and where applicants indicate other factors which could be taken into consideration, the university will consider these factors in making a determination and support the applicant where possible. Non Standard Entry Criteria Applicants who do not meet the standard academic entry requirements may be considered for admission onto the programme. On completion of the two year degree programme, the graduating students will be eligible to apply to police forces for appointment as police constables. Obtaining the degree is a requirement but does not guarantee appointment to a police force. Recruitment and appointment is subject to the relevant regulations and requirements of police recruitment and selection processes. This includes medical and fitness testing along with background and security checks. Recruitment and selection processes are rigorous and may vary between forces. Candidates must also take a series of assessments including national recruitment processes and force vetting.
