Embark upon academic and professional development for your career in education. This course is for anyone who has experience within a formal school environment, such as a teaching assistant role (paid or voluntary). In your study, you will explore all areas of teaching from early years, throughout the Key Stages and onto Post-16 teaching. You will also consider the role of inclusion and teaching within special education schools.
You will be able to investigate the ways children develop and learn; appropriate and inclusive teaching methods; supporting learners with additional needs; social and emotional issues and contexts in learning; and relevant education and childhood policy and legislation. The course has a strong vocational and work based element, which means that you'll have the opportunity to build upon your own invaluable experience and relate your own understanding of theory directly to your practice.
Designed to reflect and respect the diverse roles and responsibilities that teaching assistants and other support roles are able to bring to education, our teaching assistant degree offers you a specific route into Higher Education.
