**More about the Professional Placement Year**
A Professional Placement Year (PPY), traditionally known as a sandwich year, is where a student undertakes a period of work with an external organisation for between 9-13 months. The placement occurs between the students' second and third years of undergraduate study. Students can engage in up to 3 placements to make up the total time and are required to source the placement(s) themselves with support from the Careers & Employability Team.
Course Details - Modules
Year 1 will give you a broad understanding of today’s business environment, you’ll develop specialised knowledge and explore how organisations work and how they interact with the business environments. You’ll gain an understanding of economic thinking, you’ll develop management skills in gathering and assessing information, and you’ll communicate decisions and evaluate their effect.
In Year 2 you will specialise in Law and learn about the functions of business and how these interrelate. You will learn to form opinions on how businesses manage challenges, you’ll work on projects and use business techniques to solve problems.
In your Final Year, you’ll practice, develop, challenge and explore all you have learnt, and examine management as an integrating activity. You will write a law-related dissertation when you’ll explore a topic that interests you. You’ll also have the opportunity to work individually or with colleagues to plan a business, and you’ll study a specialist law option.

You'll be assessed in a wide range of ways that will test your business knowledge and management skills. These could include presentations, work related projects, group-work, computer based simulations, podcasts, examinations, essays, videos and business reports.

Standard Qualification Requirements
A level grades BCC-CCC including in Business or related subject preferred. Applicants without business studies A level can apply but will need to demonstrate a strong interest in Business in their personal statement.
Grade Merit is preferred.
Typical offers for applicants with Access to HE will be the Access to HE Diploma or Access to HE Certificate (60 credits, 45 of which must be Level 3, including 30 at merit or higher). Any selection procedure/further requirements will also apply. Access courses accepted in addition to evidence of interest in business.
A minimum of 26 points are required in addition to evidence of a strong interest in Business in your personal statement.
Extended Diploma grades Merit, Merit, Merit (MMM) accepted in a business or related subject.
