Our BA (Hons) Business and Management (Economics) degree offers a diverse programme that will equip you with the business skills to work in a range of sectors. The Economics Pathway will enable students to address global challenges and local opportunities by applying economics to policy problems,
focusing on issues such as climate change, sustainability, wellbeing and obesity, inequality and unemployment.
Whether you are a budding entrepreneur, a CEO of the future or a Marketing Director in the making our Business and Management course will give you a thorough grounding in the theory and practice of modern business.

**More about the Professional Placement Year**
A Professional Placement Year (PPY), traditionally known as a sandwich year, is where a student undertakes a period of work with an external organisation for between 9-13 months. The placement occurs between the students' second and third years of undergraduate study. Students can engage in up to 3 placements to make up the total time and are required to source the placement(s) themselves with support from the Careers & Employability Team.
Course Details - Modules
In your first year, you'll take the following modules: - The Business Environment. - Organisational Behaviour and Management. - Economics and Globalisation. - Managing Data. - Design Thinking for Enterprise. - Professional Practice. In your second year, you'll start to specialise in economics. There are 4 compulsory modules: - Creativity for Business. - Innovation Management. - Applying Economics. - Economics in Practice. You'll be able to choose two optional modules: - The Marketing Business. - Human Resource Management. - Financial Accounting. - Operations and Project Management. - Destination Management. - International Business. - Entrepreneurship. - Festival and Events Management. - Law for Business Enterprise. - Fashion Marketing and Management. - Work Placement. - Professional Placement Year. Your third (placement) year provides you with the opportunity to identify, apply for, and secure professional experience, normally comprising one to three placements over a minimum of nine months. Successful completion of this module will demonstrate your ability to secure and sustain graduate-level employment. By completing the module, you'll be entitled to the addition of 'with Professional Placement Year' to your degree title. In your final year, you develop your economic thinking at an advanced level : - Economics Project. - Advanced Economic issues. Course Details – Assessment Method
You'll be assessed in a wide range of ways that will test your business knowledge and management skills. These could include presentations, work related projects, group-work, computer based simulations, podcasts, examinations, essays, videos and business reports.

Grade Merit is preferred.
