How do we tackle economic issues through mathematics and statistics? Economists with more quantitative backgrounds come into their own in specialist areas such as statistical forecasting and econometrics. This degree will advance your knowledge, and give you skills needed to make your mark out in the field. Our Economics and Econometrics BSc focuses on the core areas of microeconomics and macroeconomics and explores the application of mathematics and statistics to core areas of economics. Economic issues occupy the news, capture our attention and affect our everyday lives. This course offers a comprehensive and critical understanding of the ideas, concepts and issues central to economics and econometrics, enabling you to better understand these issues and the world around you. Our Economics and Econometrics degree will prepare you for specialist quantitatively orientated careers in economics, research and forecasting. You can choose to study the syllabus for the CFA Institute Investment Foundations Certificate, helping prepare you to take the examination for the CFA Institute Investment Foundations Certificate directly with the CFA. In addition all of our economics degrees are accredited by CIMA, the professional body of management accountants. An optional year studying abroad or undertaking an industry placement will enhance your skills and build your professional network. Your time with us will also equip you with the research techniques that are vital to postgraduate study. The close relationship between research and teaching is one of the great advantages of studying with us, and we welcome talented students from countries all over the world. Our staff are active researchers of international renown, and have acted as advisers and consultants to many international and national organisations, including the European Central Bank, the United Nations, the International Monetary Fund, the Central Bank of Poland, the Central Bank of Greece and a number of UK Government departments.

Additional Fee Information

The tuition fee for home students is reviewed annually and for the academic year 2022/3 it is £9,250. The fees for following years have not yet been decided but are likely to increase each year in line with inflation, subject to government regulations. The inflation rate used will be RPIX, which includes all the items in the Retail Price Index, excluding mortgage payments.
