Course Details - Modules

Year 1 focuses on fundamental topics such as cell biology, genetics, anatomy and physiology, evolution and classification. You’ll also study compulsory elements including the study of the human body; using ‘real time’ data collected on lung and heart function; DNA analysis; and microscopic examination of tissues. You’ll also have a range of optional modules to pick from. Year 2 covers a range of important human, animal and plant biology. You’ll consider important concepts in biology such as ethics, biosecurity, genetics. Human affection from disease will also be examined, including pathophysiology, nutrition and microbiology. Finally, year 3 sees single honours and major students carrying out a dissertation in their final year. This substantial research project gives you the experience of being responsible for planning, implementing and analysing a human biological study. A Level Grades BCC-CCC including Biology, Human Biology, Environmental Science or Social Biology (including a Pass in the Practical Skills Assessment).
