Course Details - Modules

Modules in Classical Ballet Techniques take you from the foundations of ballet to professional standard ballet, through daily ballet classes and work on the classical ballet repertoire. Dance Technique modules help you to professional standard through regular technique classes and work on repertoire and newly created work. During Professional Practice and Performance modules, you'll participate in the creation, rehearsal and performance of two productions each year: A full-length classical ballet performed on tour, and, a contemporary and jazz showcase. All performances are public, and take place in leading venues in Scotland. You'll work within a company of professional dancers, choreographer and technicians. Choreography modules teach choreographic techniques and the role of dance in cultural and historical contexts, enabling you to create and discuss your own original work. In your final year, you'll complete an Independent Study project based in an area of individual interest to you, which can be presented in any way that is negotiated and agreed with the module tutor. Also in your final year, the Professional Dancer module prepares you for life after your studies, providing skills in self-promotion and audition technique.
