Do you dream of a career crafting couture or styling silhouettes? Our practical fashion-focused degree will deliver technical training in creative techniques and processes allowing you to master construction, pattern design, drawing, printmaking, pattern cutting and creation, fashion illustration and digital art forms. Learn how to manipulate materials and create clothing with our hands-on Fashion and Textiles Foundation Degree. Based in the Cultural Quarter in Leeds and surrounded by the Playhouse Theatre, The Wardrobe and Channel 4 you will benefit from studying in one of the largest shopping destinations in the UK. You will build your design development, pattern and construction skills which will be utilised through a selection of exciting projects. In addition to this, you will gain an understanding of responsible design processes and key sustainability issues in the fashion and textiles industry allowing you to become an ethical and responsible practitioner upon graduation. Put your theory into practice in our on-site fashion and textile workshops, photography studios and digital suites at Quarry Hill Campus. You will also gain industry insight from guest speakers, fashion events and work experience opportunities.

Course Details – Assessment Method

There is an emphasis towards practical workshop learning, which underpin both context and industry relevant topics. The lecture programme will impart the necessary principles and concepts. Group work will allow students to develop their research, communication and teamwork skills. The seminars will be a mixture of student and tutor led sessions considering practical examples of the principles and concepts. Tutor and peer led reflective feedback form the basis of student learning programmes.
