Primary Education (Early Years 3-7) with recommendation for QTS
Course Summary
We take a play-based, child-centred approach and develop a solid grounding of all areas of primary education.
As part of this course you’ll:
- Qualify to teach children from ages 3-11 in a primary school setting
- Specialise in ages 3-7 but gain experience across the whole primary school age range
- Learn the skills to ensure child engagement and achievement with an emphasis on play-based learning, inclusion and creativity
- Develop your critical thinking skills, coming to understand about your own teaching and learning style
- Question why other teachers work the way they do, and how you can learn from this
- Undertake structured placements in one of our partnership schools as well as shorter placements where you’ll focus on aspects of practice including learning through play, planning highly engaging learning opportunities and managing behaviour
- Work creatively with children in a range of settings including nursery schools, primary schools and outdoor learning spaces
- Specialise in a specific subject area. The areas on offer are subject to change but could include English, maths, primary languages, science, humanities, expressive arts, inclusion or EYFS leadership
Gaining a subject specialism will make you highly sought after by prospective employers. As well as yearly school experiences, our modules take a theory-into-practice approach which will enable you to work creatively with children in a range of settings.
