Course Summary
The European Studies (Spanish pathway) BA is an interdepartmental study course that allows you to study Modern Europe from a Spanish perspective. You will study the politics, history, language and contemporary culture of Spain in-depth, preparing you for the third year where you will be taught and examined at a Spanish institution. Our current partner is the Universidad Complutense de Madrid.

Please note that A-level General Studies, Critical Thinking, Thinking Skills and Global Perspectives are not accepted by King's as one of your A levels. Must include Spanish at grade A (except for applicants to the ab initio Spanish pathway).
Must be combined with two Scottish Advanced Highers. We do not count the Higher and Advanced Higher in the same subject
Ab initio pathway: Access to HE Diploma with 45 Level 3 credits: 33 must be from units awarded at Distinction, with the remaining Level 3 credits at Merit.
Standard pathway: Access to HE Diploma with 45 Level 3 credits: 33 must be from units awarded at Distinction, with the remaining Level 3 credits at Merit. In addition, an A-Level or equivalent qualification in Spanish at grade A. If you meet these grade requirements but have no academic study of Spanish, the Diploma de Español (Nivel Superior - B2) may be accepted as evidence of proficiency instead, if taken through the Instituto Cervantes.
