Course Summary

Set in 600 acres of countryside in North Staffordshire, we have one of the largest and most beautiful campuses in Britain. We’re proud to be No.2 in England for Student Satisfaction with Course (Guardian University League Table, 2020), investing more than £140m in our campus in the last ten years, including £45m new science laboratories. In 2021 we were proud to be awarded Sustainability Institution of the Year at the prestigious Green Gown Awards as part of our mission to become a carbon neutral campus by 2030. We're committed to supporting you to achieve your career goals, and have a dedicated Careers and Employability team who can assist you to navigate your options beyond Keele. Our innovative programme at Keele offers an exciting mix of modules that will help you achieve your career ambitions in the creative industries, such as TV, radio, film and games. Music Production will focus on contemporary, broad-ranging music studies. Taught by experienced academic staff, in a research-informed environment, you will develop skills in sound recording and audio design, digital sampling, programming, mixing, mastering and producing sound. You will also examine the cultural contexts in which sound is produced for and consumed in various media. There will be opportunities to work individually and collaboratively and to deliver innovative projects under the guidance of supportive tutors. Find out more about our studios and facilities. Studying Media will provide you with the critical skills to analyse and contextualise a variety of media and cultural forms, including films, photography, advertisements, news and digital media. You’ll have the opportunity to explore your own creativity in producing cultural artefacts, with opportunities ranging from documentary-making to social media development, and from photographic installations to magazine production. The media building provides students with access to Apple Mac computers, a lighting and photographic studio and sound recording facilities, together with support from media technicians, to ensure students can deliver work of the highest quality. Music Production and Media students can borrow equipment such as high-spec video cameras, sound recording equipment and cameras and support is available to present students' work at the end-of-course degree show.
