Film and Music Production at Keele aims to give you a portfolio of skills so you can achieve your career ambitions in the music industry or in creative industries like TV, radio, film and games. Taught by experienced staff with a range of specialisms, you will develop knowledge in sound recording, film aesthetics, audio design, digital sampling and programming. You will also have the opportunities to explore mixing, mastering, producing sound, scriptwriting, digital filmmaking and documentary. We are committed to ensuring you graduate from Keele with a highly desired diverse skill-set to support your employability. Our programme offers the opportunity to take either a placement module or work placement year. This will enable you to engage directly with industry to gain invaluable practical skills and first-hand experience of the day-to-day operations of a relevant working environment. You will study in our beautiful 19th-century Clockhouse and have access to comprehensive studio facilities. Students studying practical filmmaking options can also make use of digital video equipment and editing suites, available from our fully-equipped Media Building. In the Clockhouse, six separate areas house equipment for sound recording, music production, computer music, audio-visual creative work, sound design, and music software development. The Clockhouse includes a lab, recording studio, three small group or individual user studios with workstations for audio/video editing and sound design, and drummers' room. Our studios are equipped with Macintosh-based workstations, Genelec speakers, and kept abreast with the development of modern technological tools. You will have access to the building and all studios 24 hours a day, all year around (including national holidays).
