Set in 600 acres of countryside in North Staffordshire, we have one of the largest and most beautiful campuses in Britain. We’re proud to be No.2 in England for Student Satisfaction with Course (Guardian University League Table, 2020), investing more than £140m in our campus in the last ten years, including £45m new science laboratories. In 2021 we were proud to be awarded Sustainability Institution of the Year at the prestigious Green Gown Awards as part of our mission to become a carbon neutral campus by 2030. We're committed to supporting you to achieve your career goals, and have a dedicated Careers and Employability team who can assist you to navigate your options beyond Keele.
Our Integrated Master’s degree in Computer Science will extend your subject knowledge to a higher level and enable you to work more independently whilst preparing you for a specialist career or for doctoral research. The course will also strengthen your independent critical thinking, problem solving, professional and research skills.
The MComp course enables students to study three years of our Single Honours Computer Science course with an additional year at master's level. You'll study research-informed modules in our dedicated computing labs and use cutting edge equipment in our MakerSpace.
In the final master's year, you’ll focus on a small number of modules informed by important issues in industry as well as the research interests of your tutors.
You'll explore a range of areas which may include distributed intelligence, statistical techniques for data analysis, web technologies, security, and cloud computing.
You will also undertake a substantial research project, culminating in a written dissertation following the format of research papers published in scientific journals.
Our MComp course is accredited by BCS - The Chartered Institute for IT.
