Course Summary

Set in 600 acres of countryside in North Staffordshire, we have one of the largest and most beautiful campuses in Britain. We’re proud to be No.2 in England for Student Satisfaction with Course (Guardian University League Table, 2020), investing more than £140m in our campus in the last ten years, including £45m new science laboratories. In 2021 we were proud to be awarded Sustainability Institution of the Year at the prestigious Green Gown Awards as part of our mission to become a carbon neutral campus by 2030. We're committed to supporting you to achieve your career goals, and have a dedicated Careers and Employability team who can assist you to navigate your options beyond Keele. The Cell and Tissue Engineering programme at Keele will allow you to explore the dynamics of the rapidly growing field of tissue engineering and regenerative medicine that is poised to reshape the future of UK and global healthcare. Over the three years of the BSc in Cell and Tissue Engineering programme, you will create a solid foundation in biomedical disciplines that will allow you to understand the innovative approaches to treatment and diagnosis that take into consideration genetic variations of a patient, environment and lifestyle. You will learn the fundamentals of stem cell biology, biomaterials, tissue engineering and nanotechnology and work in the laboratory to experience the discovery potentials of high throughput sequencing, 3D-bioprinting, bioreactor and genome editing technologies; cutting-edge tools that are assisting in the significant acceleration of the biological research and transformation of medicine. You will also have elective credits to be chosen across the three years of study to broaden your interest and interdisciplinarity.
