**Foundation Year**
**There are two pathways within the Biology with Foundation Year, these are:**
**Biology pathway (pathway one, available for September and January intake)**, which provides a preparatory year for students hoping to progress to Biology at Keele as a Single Honours programme or combined with another subject. For more information please visit: https://www.keele.ac.uk/study/undergraduate/undergraduatecourses/biology/#foundation-year
**Veterinary Medicine and Surgery pathway (pathway two, available for September intake only)**, provides a preparatory year for students hoping to transfer to the Bachelor of Veterinary Medicine and Surgery (BVetMS) degree at the Harper and Keele Veterinary School. To progress on to this programme from the foundation year, students are required to pass the Veterinary Medicine and Surgery selection event and successfully complete the foundation year at the required threshold grades of 70% in each semester 2 module. Students will need to have the following work experience; 2 weeks in a vets practice and 4 weeks in an animal environment. The selection event takes place during the foundation year. The new Harper & Keele Veterinary School combines the extensive resources of the two universities. The programme is uniquely structured to help students graduate with the required skills to be immediately effective first opinion practitioners in the rapidly changing modern veterinary and animal welfare industries. **Equal consideration deadline for pathway two is 15 October 2021.** For more information, please visit: https://www.keele.ac.uk/study/undergraduate/undergraduatecourses/veterinarymedicineandsurgery/#foundation-year
