Course Summary

The top-up programmes philosophy is to create a learning environment in which innovation and originality are cultivated. The aim of the programmeme is to produce versatile fashion and textile specialists able to solve problems creatively while drawing on knowledge of critical understanding of the social, economic and cultural factors influencing their professional setting. Upon completion of the top-up programme students will have the skills to pursue employment in design development, pattern cutting and manufacture and the marketing and promotion sectors of the fashion industry. The structure of the course and module contents will enable students to develop as accomplished designers in the fashion and textiles industries. The course aims to offer fundamental development bridging the gap between education and employment. It is anticipated graduates of the programme will look for employment within a range of design environments, predominantly in a high street capacity but with prospects and skills to enter employment within the bridal and couture industry. Graduates will also have the ability to pursue employment within the pattern and manufacturing area of the industry. The Yorkshire region has a growing fashion manufacturing industry which students will have the relevant skills set to seek work.
