Policing Studies with Optional Integrated Foundation Entry
Course Summary
During this course you will cover a range of policing subjects and will help develop your personal and academic skills. For example, you will complete a module called ‘Exploring Policing Studies, Skills for Success’, which will give you the fundamental skills around essay writing, referencing and research skills. Other modules include 'Introduction to Policing', which deals with the origins of the police service and how this has developed into what it is today, and ‘Responding to Incidents’, which teaches how the police service respond to routine and major events. At level 4 and level 5 you will then move on to study modules such as 'Practice, Procedure and the Criminal Law', 'Technology and Policing', 'Policing Communities' and 'Police, Practice and the Evidence Base'.
This course will prepare students who are seeking a career in policing or associated field by providing a stimulating learning experience that engages students and encourages them to take responsibility for their own learning by cultivating critical, analytical, problem-solving and reflective skills within a work-based
context.
