Television is the classic medium of our age. Nothing else has shaped our culture, our politics, our everyday life as much as TV – from the living room and boxsets to smartphone streaming and YouTube clips. You’ll learn how to make TV shows, to understand the contexts and ways in which today’s television is made and distributed, and critically analyse television and its impact to help inform your own creative work. We’ll educate you as a thinker, maker and creator ready to take your place working in the television of tomorrow, and develop the creative, analytical and technical skills you’ll need to thrive in the screen industries. Year One Core Modules Cinematography and Camera Work Storytelling and Editing Analysing Content Film and Television Industries and Law Year Two Core modules Live Television Production Production Management Television Entertainment From Studio to Social Media: Media Careers and Entrepreneurship Developing Formats and Programmes for Television: From Idea to Pitch Option modules: Choose one from a list which may include: On-Screen Training: Becoming a Presenter Film and Television Fandom and Participatory Media Scoring the Silver Screen: The Musicology of Film and Television Year Three Placement Year Final Year Core modules: Television Production Project: Production and Post-Production Screens Aesthetics Film and Television Distribution: Sales, Promotion and Festivals Media Industry Project Students who have successfully completed the optional placement year take an additional optional module in place of the Media Industry Project and Employment module. Option modules: Choose up to two from a list which may include: Video Shorts: Music, Advertising and Short film Stars and Celebrity Digital Streaming Platforms: YouTube, Netflix and Beyond Reality TV and Documentary Research Dissertation

We use a variety of assessments, including video shorts, podcasts, newsroom days, audience research portfolios, essays, production pitches, data analytics, presentations, and dissertation. This allows you the ability to tailor your degree to fit your passions, interests and strengths.
