Why Events Management? Events Management is a fast paced and dynamic industry, no one day is the same, you’ll have opportunities to travel the world, work with interesting people and continuously challenge yourself. With us you’ll learn the skills required through practical hands-on application and the academic know how required to succeed in a competitive market. A good Events Manager? Good communication, creativity, being organised, problem solving and constantly striving for excellence are a few of the skills required, we encourage you to explore all types of events from Weddings to Conferences, Sporting events to Cultural Celebrations, Charity fundraisers to marketing campaigns. As members of the Association of British Professional Conference Organisers (APBCO) (http://www.abpco.org/), the Meeting Professional Institute (MPI) (https://www.mpiweb.org/), the National Outdoor Events Association (NOAE) (https://noea.org.uk/) and the Association for Events Management Education (AEME) (http://www.aeme.org/), the course follows the requirements of the Industry. How will you learn? You will learn through practical application and creatively delivered lectures, workshops, seminars and group work sessions. * Coordinating your own event as part of assessment in each year. * Working with charities and external clients to create events concepts. * Volunteering on events throughout the year (e.g. NCRI in Liverpool, CHS in Leeds, Chester Food & Culture Festival). * Industry software training and creating event design concepts, operating the technology and equipment behind events. * Attending field trips. * Complete additional qualifications embedded in the modules such as Food Hygiene Certificate, IOSH Managing Safely and CVENT Certificate and have the opportunity to complete additional qualifications such as Personal Licence Holders (RFQ). * Future focused subjects delivered by lecturers who have worked in the industry or who are currently conducting cutting edge research in the field. * Industry experts delivering guest lectures. What subjects will you cover? You’ll explore subjects such as operations and project management, financial planning and budgeting, Health & Safety, risk mitigation, marketing and consumer behaviour, logistics, facilities and sponsorship management, evaluation and impact measurement and business management.

Year 1 Core modules: Hospitality, Events, Leisure, Sport and Tourism (HELST) Events Operations Management Principles of Marketing Professional Skills and Finance Events Catering Option modules: Choose one from a list which may include: Understanding Organisational Behaviour Digital Marketing in the Contemporary World Modern Language Two Options from a variety of modern foreign language modules can be chosen from the available range and entry levels appropriate to the student’s prior experience and knowledge. We currently offer French, German, Italian and Spanish as well as the increasingly popular choices of Japanese and Chinese to those students seeking a wider international challenge. Year 2 Core modules: Managing the Live Event Human Resource Management for Events Design and Technology for Events Consumer Behaviour and Experiential Marketing Meetings, Incentives, Conferences and Exhibition Management Option modules: Choose one from a list which may include: Stadium and Arena Management The Customer Experience Professional English As a Foreign Language: Applied Modern Language Or a Modern Foreign Language module which can be chosen from the available range and entry levels appropriate to your prior experience and knowledge. Languages may include French, German, Spanish, Italian, Japanese, Chinese and Professional English. Year 3 - optional placement year Final year Core modules: Global Business Strategy Global Events and Festivals Creativity and Innovation Option modules: Choose one from a list which may include: International HRM for the Hospitality Industry Business Responsibility & Sustainability Sustainable Tourism Modern Language Or a Modern Foreign Language module which can be chosen from the available range and entry levels appropriate to your prior experience and knowledge. Languages may include French, German, Spanish, Italian, Japanese, Chinese and Professional English.
