Do you enjoy expressing yourself creatively? Are you an artist and creative thinker? We’ll offer you the chance to explore different media in a range of workshops including painting, drawing, image-making, sculpture, installation, moving-image, digital processes, and photography. This will allow you to build up your artistic skills so you can select the approaches that are right for you. Why study Contemporary Art and Illustration? * Work in a lively and dynamic studio environment where you’ll be encouraged to develop your creative and conceptual thinking. On your way, you’ll be able to call on the support of our widely experienced specialist tutors and technicians. * Engage with a range of inspiring guest speakers and have live sessions from professionals within your chosen field. Use our links with industry and professional practitioners to gain the opportunity to take part in live projects, national competitions, awards and exhibitions. * Learn to present, evaluate, curate and interpret contemporary art and illustration. The course is part of a suite of three courses that also includes Contemporary Art BA(Hons) and Illustration BA(Hons). We’re truly flexible and want you to develop your own path. You only have to apply for one course from the suite, but you could go off in any direction once you get here. This is a globally recognised accreditation awarded by one of the leading software package providers to the creative industries, so could be valuable in your professional career. This accreditation is attractive to a number of employers and so it could give you a competitive edge in the job market. To be awarded the ACA accreditation, you’ll need to pass an online test. Additional Costs - Materials: Basic materials (pens, pencils, brushes, charcoal, canvas and paper) are provided for students. However, if you choose to work with more specialist materials, you will need provide these yourself. This could be anything from oil paints to building materials, software, DVDs, steel, etc. and depends on your choice of contemporary art and/or illustration practice. The estimated cost of specialist materials is £60 (Year 1), £100 (Year 2) and £200 (Year 3).

Course Details – Assessment Method

Your assessment will include verbal and illustrative presentations of your practical and developmental work, written work for contextual analysis and assignments, plus self-assessment and evaluation. 23% of the study time on this course is spent in tutorials, seminars, workshops, lectures etc. Your module specification/course handbook will provide full details of the assessment criteria applying to your course.
