Course Summary

Why Business Management with Finance? Money often defines business success. Or in other words, profit, cash flow and investment. If you can understand how money talks, and the possibilities related to finance, you will have the knowledge and skills to help businesses gain a lead over their competitors. This course lets you develop specialist skills to be a manager and also to develop an understanding of the finance behind a business. You’ll have the opportunity to develop your ability to motivate and inspire a team of people to work towards a common goal. How will you learn? You will learn through lectures, workshops, seminars, live and client-facing projects, you will also have lots of opportunity for practical application. * We aim to give you a thorough grounding in business and finance and give you lots of chances to apply theory to the real world. * We’ll give you the opportunity to take a placement year, working in a business, either here in the UK or abroad. * We have close links with the Chartered Management Institute (CMI) and you’ll have the opportunity to achieve a professional CMI qualification in Management and Leadership through no additional study or assessment. * To help you go on to employment, you will also have the chance to take advice from our HR professionals. They could help you create CVs and portfolios, and work on your interview technique too. Previous students have gained experience with businesses such as Hewlett Packard, Lloyds Banking Group, ASDA, Coop Group, Cummins, L’Oréal, Virgin Media and Agricultural Bank of China. What subjects will you cover? To give you the chance to gain a better understanding of business and finance, the course covers key business topics, such as leadership, strategy, international business, and marketing. You’ll study financial and management accounting, corporate reporting, and business ethics – all of which will help you understand how businesses can operate in a socially responsible and ethical way. In the second and final years, you also choose from a range of finance modules to build your specialist skills. All our degrees offer the opportunity to spend a placement year in industry which is a fantastic opportunity to put your business skills into practice while still being a student. Professional links and accreditation: You can register with the Chartered Management Institute (http://www.managers.org.uk/) providing a further qualification and enhancing your CV through membership of a professional body. Upon successful completion of the course and after completing the registration, you’ll have the opportunity to achieve a CMI qualification in Management and Leadership through no additional study or assessment.
