Underpinning the study of common diseases such as dementia, diabetes and cancer is biomedicine. * This course has advanced accreditation by the Royal Society of Biology. * On this course, you’ll have the chance to delve into how bodily functions at a cellular, tissue and whole body level change during these chronic diseases. You’ll also be able to consider how biomedicine can assist with healthy ageing. * In addition to learning about these key chronic diseases, you’ll have the opportunity to study the biology of common and rare genetic disorders as well as infectious diseases in temperate and tropical climates. * The third year is your chance to step out of the classroom and into the real world. The research placement widens your horizons and lets you apply your knowledge to real-world projects. You’ll have a great opportunity to put your knowledge into action and pick up valuable skills that could help boost your employability. * Throughout the course you’ll be supported by academics with doctoral-level expertise in their subjects and experience across the biological sciences. Learning through lectures, workshops, online and personal study, you’ll also be able to get hands-on experience with modern instruments during specialist biological sciences lab sessions.
