Course Summary

The HND Textiles is a highly creative, design-led course for those with a passion for designing and creating, providing you with the opportunity to explore your creative potential. Through the process of experimentation with materials and media, you will establish your own design practice, with opportunities to design textiles for fashion, interiors and accessories. You will develop knowledge and key skills, such as interpreting briefs, planning, analysis and presentation of design ideas. Course work is mainly project-based and you are encouraged to experiment with a wide variety of materials and techniques. The programme provides a thorough grounding in textile processes, allowing you to develop a range of vocational skills relevant to a career in textiles. The lecturing team is composed of a dedicated group of professionals with a breadth of experience within the creative industries. Studying in our specially equipped fashion and textile department at West Highland College UHI, you will work on projects from the initial planning and research stages, through design and development, to the production of final outcome.
