This degree builds on the industry-recognised HNC. All first year entrants will start on the HNC and the entry requirements are therefore for this programme. Successful completion will allow you to progress onto the second year of the degree. Applicants already holding a relevant HNC qualification can apply for direct entry to the second year. When completing your application make sure you choose year two. It may be possible for applicants holding a relevant HND qualification to apply for direct entry to year three, again where this is the case please make sure you choose year three when completing your application. Designed by industry professionals, this skills-led honours degree aims to help graduates progress to the forefront of the sector and have sustainable and rewarding careers. We are the longest established audio engineering education centre in Scotland and have maintained our status as a centre of excellence in audio education by developing courses valued by both the creative industries and academia. Whether you are progressing into industry or postgraduate study, our graduates have a proven track record of success. Our students are pushing the boundaries in applications of technology: recent final year projects have included usages of immersive VR albums, networked audio, augmented reality sound, acoustics and loudspeaker design. You will be taught by experts in their fields who will guide you towards developing skills and aptitudes in your chosen path. The course will develop both your industry and your academic skills through real-life assignments both on and off-campus. We have extensive learning facilities and equipment offering you the chance to hone your skills with practice times outwith classes.

Additional Fee Information

This is a Top-Up Degree whereby Year 1 of the course comprises an HNC and in some cases Year 2 an HND. Courses which comprise an HN award as their first and/or second year will be charged the Higher National fee for the first and/or second year, increasing to the degree fee rate after this. Please see the course page for specific fees details. RUK students will be charged the RUK HN fee for the Higher National portion of the programme and the degree portion will be charge at the RUK degree fee, the fourth year of consecutive study on the programme is free. EU/EEA and Swiss nationals starting their study in Scotland from academic year 2021-22, who do not have settled status, will be considered as international for fee purposes. For 2021-22, the university offered an automatic scholarship for the degree (3rd) year and the 4th year of study free for those studying full-time, on continuous study.
