Course Summary

Adult nurses assess, diagnose, plan, implement and evaluate care supporting the patient's recovery or the ability to live as well as possible with their condition. Theoretical modules provide you with the knowledge and clinical skills to undertake clinical placements in community and hospital settings, with experiences in a range of adult related areas. Career opportunities exist in areas including A&E, specialist medical and surgical areas, intensive care, palliative care and primary care settings. The one key word that could be used to describe the role of adult field registered nurses is diversity – registered nurses who hold adult field registration (and additional registerable qualifications, for example prescribing or teaching) care for the needs of people across the lifespan, including safeguarding the health of mother and baby. You’ll be able to experience that diversity during placements in clinical areas where adult nurses practice which might include: acute sector general and specialist medical and surgical nursing; critical care nursing (intensive and high dependency care, emergency department, theatres and recovery); community nursing in the home environment and primary care. Adult Nurses have the opportunity to develop their practice upon qualification. This can lead to careers such as; Advanced Nurse Practitioners, Clinical Specialist Nursing, Consultant Nursing, Ward (ITU,CCU and HDU) as well as various Community specialisms, Practice Nursing and Research Nursing. The opportunity and choice is endless and offers you a rewarding career with multiple options for supported development. *Flexibility in where you study  * You will be able to use the comprehensive range of facilities for all students at our campuses at both Bangor and Wrexham, and regional learning hubs are being established giving you real flexibility in how and where you learn.
