**Course Description**
Our four-year BSc Marketing course, with an integrated placement year, will develop your understanding of the core concepts of marketing theory, and how to apply them to real life cases.
In today’s business environment, organisations have to develop and retain their competitive advantage in order to survive and be successful. The marketing function’s role is to identify where these competitive advantages lie, and ensure that the organisation responds to market opportunities. Marketing is therefore vital to the process of matching the demands of a rapidly changing business environment, the needs of customers and clients, and the resources and strategies of the organisation. You’ll develop your understanding of the core concepts of marketing theory and learn how to apply them in new and interesting ways.

**Course Details**
- Year 1 – You’ll study a range of topics which have been designed to give you a solid foundation for your business degree.
- Year 2 – You will learn about essential marketing areas in depth in addition to the core business and management subjects. Incorporated into the teaching of both your second year and final year are computerised market simulations, on site visits and specialist lectures from UK and overseas marketers and academics. Subject areas include Market Research, Digital Marketing and Consumer Behaviour.
- Year 3 – This is when you will undertake a professional placement or choose an international study opportunity at one of our partner institutions. This year is compulsory for all UK students.
- Year 4 - During your final year there is greater specialisation. You will have the opportunity to focus on the strategic aspects of marketing management and tailor your final year with a choice of specialist optional modules. Subject areas include International Marketing, Marketing Strategy, Brand Management and Services Marketing Management.
Course Details - Modules
In the First Year, you will study a wide range of management related subjects, designed to ensure you have a broad foundation and knowledge of management. You will consider the economic, financial, human and legal issues managers deal with, and the tools and techniques they use. You will be introduced to the key areas of business as well as carrying out project work which will help draw together the subjects you have studied. In the Second Year you will begin the specialist study of Marketing. Incorporated into the teaching of both your Second Year and Final Year are computerised market simulations, on site visits and specialist lectures from UK and overseas marketers and academics.
