The BA (Hons) Education and Professional Practice is a level 6 top-up degree programme that seeks to connect teaching practitioners and professionals from different sectors of education who will work together to interrogate key concepts of the education system and consolidate understanding within their own contexts.
The programme follows an intellectual and rigorous study of educational questions; designed to broaden theoretical perspectives of the role and purpose of education and educational processes across a wide range of contexts. These are Early Years, Primary and Secondary compulsory schooling and Further Education. New City College is registered with the Office for Students.
The BA (Hons) Education and Professional Practice is to be newly validated by Bath Spa University and is unique in its approach to delivering this qualification as it brings into contact teaching practitioners and professionals from different sectors of education who will work together to explore key concepts of the Education system within their own working context. You will consider the effectiveness of the management and leadership team at your organisation, as well as the innovative practices of your institution. Alongside this, you will study the importance, theory and models of transitions and conduct in-depth research for your dissertation. This qualification is a classroom-based course in which students are expected to reflect upon and actively incorporate their professional practice into their studies.
For full-time students, the course is studied over a period of one year for 30 weeks. Attendance is 1 day per week plus attendance in the workplace.
The course will take place at our Ardleigh Green Campus.
On completion of the programme, students may choose to move into a management position, paid employment following voluntary placement, or progress to a Masters programme in Education. Students may also progress on to a registered teacher training programme.
