On this two year HND course at HSDC South Downs, you will study the following units:

This level of study requires additional hours allocated each week outside of College for research and writing reports.
You will be required to attend College for three days a week.
On successful completion of Year 1 HNC, students can progress on to Year 2 HND Engineering.
**Teaching and Learning**
Classes are informal and incorporate a variety of teaching and learning methods e.g. discussion, lectures, group work and practical sessions.
The course will be delivered over two years as a full time course, over three days a week.
**Assessment**
Assessment is made through completion of assignment based activities, reports, coursework, practical work, independent study and research. Each unit is marked at Pass, Merit or Distinction grade and these will be used to calculate a final overall grade for the qualification.
**Industry Links**
The course has been designed with local employer needs in mind and can be used as part of a Levy Funded Higher Apprenticeship.
**Progression**
Following the completion of this course, you can progress to a top-up degree at university or Degree Apprenticeship. Career destinations include Design Engineers, Electrical or Electronic Engineers and Mechanical Engineers.

If you have recently been in education, the entry profile is likely to include one of the following:
– A* to C (9 – 4 under the new system) grade in GCSE Mathematics – a sound mathematical ability is essential
– A BTEC Level 3 qualification in Engineering
– A Level profile that demonstrates strong performance in relevant subjects such as Mathematics, Physics etc.
