Aston University is The Guardian's 'University of the Year' 2020. **Course description** Our four-year BSc Business & Management course, with an integrated placement year, will give you a comprehensive understanding of the various functions of management, whilst allowing you the opportunity to focus your studies within specific areas. You will develop the breadth and depth of knowledge required by managers in the 21st century. This degree provides you with the theoretical knowledge base and practical management skills to ensure that you are fully prepared for the demands of senior management. With its combination of broad-based and specialist knowledge alongside the placement year, this degree offers a route into general management as well as specialist areas such as accounting, marketing and market research, administration, banking and finance/economics, human resources and operations management. You’ll consider the economic, financial, human and legal issues managers deal with, and learn the tools and techniques they use to resolve them. - Year 2 - You will study a range of core modules including the Business Game, and the Professional Manager. The remaining modules are chosen from broad subject streams, including Accounting and Finance, Economics, Marketing, Law and Operations Management. - Year 3 - This is when you will undertake a professional placement or choose an international study opportunity at one of our partner institutions. This year is compulsory for all UK students. - Year 4 - In your final year you’ll study a core Strategic and Management module, with the remainder being chosen from broad subject streams. This allows you to continue with a deeper understanding of your existing specialisms or broaden your studies further.
